It's a Wonderful Life

A few weeks ago I noticed this fuzzy stuff in one of the new pine trees we planted in our front yard. I pulled on it and was a little grossed out. Laren was out there with me and so I asked him to take a look at what it might be. Upon looking more closely we discovered a birds nest with the smallest blue eggs in it, four of them.

I wondered where the Mother was. Laren said since she was not right with the nest the eggs were probably no good anymore. I mentioned to him maybe the Mother was off getting food.

In time, we noticed the Mother bird was with the eggs in the nest a lot. And on Saturday, we discovered the nest with 3 babies newly hatched.

And then on Sunday, right before Church my kids witnessed the fourth egg hatch. They were SO excited as the watched the last egg wiggle and move and the wet baby bird emerge with hardly even any fuzz on it. Within hours the fuzz appeared on the baby and it began to look more like the others.

So now every day we have the fun habit of checking on the nest and the baby birds.

This week Kayla and Alyssa had a Double Header Softball game. Kayla was so excited she got to play catcher. They both seem to have finally caughten the "bug" and are really getting into it now, especially Kayla. It's so fun to see that occur!

My boys, Kyle and Tyler, playing at the game.

A beautiful sunset we saw near the end of the game.

Off to get family pictures in our favorite mountain park.

I think it will be neat to see the babies grow up too! The evolution...and to think I got to see this momentus event! And the softball was cool too. Nice sunset. I take it that it cooled down there. It was cool (almost cold when I returned) and now it is hot, hot, hot. (but not at hot as PHX).

How fun to watch a cut of nature right in your yard!

I cannot wait until my kids get into sports (though soccer is our sport of choice around here.... :-)

I'm glad you are having such a great summer with your kids. I've decided this won't go down as the best one ever, but I've always got next year to try again:)
