Back from Girls Camp
It was a lot of fun, but exhausting! I loved being there with Kayla, my daughter, especially, even though we were sleeping in different cabins. We went to the new camp the Church has built southeast of Heber City, Heber Valley Camp. It is nice, with a pavillion, 2 fridges (with freezers on top), a sink with hot and cold water, camp stoves already there, a locking kitchen area, 3 cabins per campsite with built in bunkbeds, bathrooms with flushing toliets and HOT showers! It was great!

Outside my cabin. I was assigned a different cabin than my daughter, so that was a bummer for me - but she was probably happy about that!
The drawbacks: Rain, Rain, RAIN!!! And swine flu. Yes, our camp cook came down with it the first night we were there. We ended up getting quarantined and were unable to do the Challenge Course (zip line, etc...). The girls were SO bummed!
Last night one of our Laurel Adviser's brought us all up masks, after hearing about the swine flu dilemna. So this morning we posed for a few pictures with our masks on. I am in that picture, can you find me? (Hint: I am next to my daughter.)

But we did get in a couple of good hikes and some canoeing on Legacy Lake. Last night was the testimony meeting and value walk. It was freezing cold, but the rain held off. I am SO tired! Somehow, it still felt like camping even though we were in cabins. We have the most wonderful group of girls in our ward! I just love them all!!

WOW!! How fun, what an awesome place for girls camp!! Our YW are getting home today and they went to a new place in Wyoming...no cabins, no water hookups etc. You guys have the cooshy life!! :)
Kari I love Heber Valley Camp we went there the first Tuesday of June but we didn't have a swine flu problem which was good but you did. When I went we say 5 deer, and 4 ducks while canoeing we had a stable mable good to hear from you. Shauntae Storms

That camps looks amazing... way better than the one we went to down here. Sounds like you had lots of fun, the girls are lucky to have such a great leader.
I didn't know the church had camp sites, those are so nice!! What a bummer about the swine flu! Hope no one else came down with it.
Finally...the right idea for girls camp--no one has to suffer any more! The cabins look and sound so comfy. Sorry about the rain--such a bummer. And swine flu?! Has it really hit Utah? Kayla looks about your size in the picture. I hope you have got some sleep by now. Did you find a house to buy yet?
That's a pretty fancy Girl's Camp you went too. I looks like you had a wonderful time despite the unfortunate weather. My mom was always at Girl's Camp with me and my sisters and even though I hate camping, I went every year, just because I wanted to hang out with her.
What a fun girl's camp! It's good to see you guys enjoying American Fork. About my dad.....we did use to live up in that neighborhood. I grew up a couple of houses down from the Ashby's. My maiden name is Woodcox and my dad is the handy man around American fork. What a small world!!! We sure miss you and your family.
Nice cabins!!!!! That seems like a great camp - my niece went there a couple years ago.

Man, you guys had luxury! How nice. We slept in army tents, but still had so much fun. THere is nothing like girls camp! :)
