Summer is winding down

My kids did the Summer Reading Program at the Library and now we need to go and use our tickets that they earned to do miniature golf, bowling and eating out. I am bummed that 2 of them got free meals to Lonestar Steakhouse and 3 of them got meals to IHOP. I wish they could have all been at the same place. But they all finished their reading on different schedules/weeks and so the prizes were different.

We went out and got most of their school clothes this past week. Of course I love this store, but we also went here and here. It is so hard to find pants that work for my oldest son, Kyle, because he is tall and thin. And so many clothes are made this days for thicker kids. But my kids are so skinny (from Laren's genes) that we have a hard time getting the pants to stay up on them. It makes shopping for them tricky. Today I hope to get their school supplies.

Most of my friends have already done all this shopping, but because of our traveling escapades and having out of town company we are coming in late on it this year. Plus it doesn't help that school starts the middle of August. I am really wishing that school wouldn't start until the end of August so I could go to this.

I've started walking in the early mornings with a friend. It has been several years since I last did this and it such great fun. It makes me more committed to my exercise and I get it out of the way first thing and we get a great chat in at the same time.

It seems like summer has gone by so fast.

I too would love to go to Education Week. I actually know one of the speakers, Sandra Phillips, really well. I have heard her speak before and she is great.

The days I do get up and exercise I feel so good but its just getting me out of bed that is a problem:)

I have been working on school shopping this week too. My kids go back to school on Weds. I can't believe summer is coming to an end. It feels like it just started!

I too would LOVE to go to Eduation week. I have never been before. I do go to Women's Conference yearly though, and love that! :)

My boys are total opposites. One is very thin and has the same problem as yours, and the other is built much thicker, and waists are often too small. It makes hand-me-downs hard, too!

I dub thee "Super Link Woman".

I think next year you should hire someone to watch the kiddies (think college student home for the summer) so you can go to Ed. week!

I wish my kids would have done their reading program. It just didn't get enforced enough.

Yay for morning walks. They are the best with a friend! And the time and mileage go by much faster!

I have never school shopped with my kids. We usually sit on the couch with the laptop on our lap and point and click.

This is the first year my "tween" has asked if we can go to the mall and pick out cool stuff. He also informed me I would need to stand off to the side and not attract any attention!

Exercise is always so much better with a friend. Keep it up!
