Christmas Party

Last night Laren and I went to some friends' house for a Christmas Party. This is my same friend that I walk with in the wee hours of the morning. It was lots of fun! We ate, socialized (there were 34 couples there), and had a gift exchange. It was a white elephant gift exchange and so one never knows what one might get.

We had taken 2 "decent" gifts because in my opinion people go too heavy on the gag type gifts and though the "gag" gifts are funny (like the dancing santa or the picture of Fred), people like to get something nice and useful too!

In the end, I ended up with a cute ceramic canister filled with Hershey's Kisses (with a can of Green Chili's also inside) and Santa on the front that says "Happy Holidays". Laren (at my nudging since his chocolates got taken away from him) got a soapstone oil warmer and tealight candles with an apple cinnamon oil. YUM I love yummy smells!

What we ended up getting.

I counted about 6 "decent gifts" and these were 2 of them. (The rest were stupid stuff like a Rugrats VCR tape, Bette Midler cd, Reindeer "poop", a Book on why My Mommy is a Democrat, etc....)

But poor Laren, there was not a decent guys gift in the place except for Chocolates (yes, Laren had stolen from someone else the same Chocolates that we brought since someone else stole his gift from him). I think the reason there were not more "guy" gifts is because everything guys want are just too plain expensive! That and because it's the wives who buy and wrap the gifts!

But one guy did open a pair of boxers (with Homer Simpson on them), a bottle of sparkling apple cider and some candles! Now that was hilarious because the guy that got them held the shorts to his hips and proceeded to do a little "dance" in front of his wife!

Of course another guy stole the shorts from the original guy who got them. Because things could be "stolen" 2 times, the original guy who got them, well his wife, stole them back. She's a friend of mine and she jokingly said, I guess we're going for baby #5 tonight!! (She was totally kidding! ) And another funny thing about it is the shorts were size XL and the guy who got them, probably wears his clothing in smalls or mediums--he's a small guy.

That sounds like SO much fun! Next time, buy lotter scratchers - for a mormon party! Watch people fight over those. It's really funny.
